REDWOOD CITY, Calif. — John Pimentel, a community education advocate and successful renewable energy and sustainability business entrepreneur, officially completed his campaign filing on Wednesday for District 5 Trustee of the San Mateo County Community College District (SMCCCD).

“All students in San Mateo County, especially those from disadvantaged communities and first generation college families, deserve the opportunity to attend one of our three fantastic local colleges. As a graduate of the California community college system, I’ve experienced firsthand the lasting positive impact of an affordable higher education degree. I passionately believe community college is the best investment we can make to support economic and social equity for all Californians,” said John Pimentel.

Pimentel’s solutions focus on improvements in three key areas: opportunity, equity, and transparency.

“Our local colleges offer high-quality and affordable education that must be easily accessible to all who seek personal and professional betterment. We can make substantial progress towards a more equitable society, as a whole, if we invest in the community college system right now.”
