PIMENTEL RECEIVES SMCCCD TRUSTEE ENDORSEMENTS

PIMENTEL WILL PRIORITIZE TUITION-FREE SMCCCD FOR COUNTY RESIDENTS

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – John Pimentel, candidate for District 5 Trustee of the San Mateo County Community College District, has received the endorsements of 2 sitting SMCCCD Trustees. Dave Mandelkern and Richard Holober join other community leaders in support of Pimentel, a sustainable energy leader and businessperson.

"I'm endorsing John Pimentel because he would bring two much needed skills to our Community College Board: the ability to understand complex budgets and financial models (which will be critical as we deal with the fiscal impact of COVID-19 in the next few years), and experience in managing large capital construction projects under Project Labor Agreements (in recent years our District has invested almost $1 billion in construction projects under PLAs, with several large projects yet to be completed)," said Trustee Dave Mandelkern.

"John is unique in having deep experience in business with renewable energy projects and in government, having been both Governor’s Higher Education Advisor and Deputy Secretary for Transportation," said Trustee Richard Holober. "He will be a great asset to this Board."

“These Trustees know what it takes to lead the San Mateo County Community College District, and I’m honored to have their support. My main priority is increasing accessibility to our exceptional local community colleges by making SMCCCD tuition-free for all San Mateo County residents," said John Pimentel, candidate for SMCCCD Trustee. "During these difficult times, it's more important than ever to invest in our community colleges and the futures of our students. We can make substantial progress towards a fairer society by ensuring everyone has access to a quality education."
